BigCommerce Modifications and Greasemonkey (part 1: installation)

Have you ever been in a situation where you were suppose to log in ten times a day into your BigCommerce store, inserting the username and the strong password every-time and felt like the log in action was taking half of the time spent at work those days? Well, those times are over: we can use Greasemonkey now!

What is Greasemonkey

Greasemonkey is one of the pinnacle Firefox extensions that allows you to customize the way a web page displays or behaves, by using small bits of JavaScript. If you ever wanted more from the Internet, Greasemonkey is the extension to do just that for you.

Easy to install!

Greasemonkey can be easily installed. Actually it kinda installs itself. You'll have to visit the right URL and click install and that is pretty much it!

So, first of all, click on this link to go to the Greasemonkey installation page. If this link does not work, click here then search for Greasemonkey.

greasemonkey install

All you have to do is to click on the button that says Add to Firefox. The browser will do the rest. Please note that you may have to restart the browser in order for the installation to be complete.

greasemonkey icon

Once installed, the Greasemonkey icon will appear on the right hand upper corner of the browser window. Please note that the position of the icon may be different from version to version.

How to install an user script?

This is the simplest part, just drag-and-drop the script file in the browser's window!

To make this more interesting, I created a user script specially for you. So, after you've finished installing the Greasemonkey extension, download the file below (right click > save as), drag-and-drop it to the browser's window and refresh this page! If everything went well, there should be a button shown right under my picture on this page: click it! (this only works with Firefox)

Keep in touch!

Make sure you visit our BigCommerce Greasemonkey scripts and template edits articles on a regular basis because we will be publishing some useful user scripts to be used with Greasemonkey. These scripts will ease your life when it comes to editing BigCommerce templates! Stay tuned!
